Agnes was born on August 27, 1946, at Asonomaso, near Kumasi, Ashanti-Ghana.  Her mother was Madam Afua Badu and her father was Lawyer Kwabena Kesse of Kumasi. After Asonomaso Primary School, she continued at Yaa Asantewah Secondary School in Kumasi. She proceeded to Mars Hills College in Asheville, North Carolina (US), where she obtained her B.S.C. in Nursing.

She married her college sweetheart, Phillip Briscoe. They moved to Chicago in 1968. The marriage broke up in 1986.

Sampson met Agnes in the Summer of 1987 and they were married on January 1, 1988.  They moved to Bolingbrook, IL in September of 1988, and lived there until Agnes gave into illness on May 16, 2022. Agnes served the community faithfully throughout her life, both in her work as a nurse and as a devoted volunteer in the church and world.

She leaves behind two brothers; Nana Kwabena Nketia and Akwasi Sekyere, her favorite niece Nana Akua Baffour and husband Sampson Akotuah.

A viewing and memorial worship service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 8:30am – 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church of DuPage, 180 N. Weber Road, Bolingbrook, IL 60440. The service will be live streamed on Facebook. The burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 200 W. Romeo Road, Romeoville.

A Traditional Funeral Celebration will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 8pm – 1:30am at 210 Canterbury Lane, Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
