Ministry at FPCD
God is doing amazing work in and through the Congregation and Community of First Presbyterian Church of DuPage!
You are a minister!
The Scripture reminds us that every person is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-31) and all of us are part of God’s body, called to work together for the betterment of the world (1 Cor 12). As children of God, we are called to live in faith, hope, and love every moment of the day and everywhere we go. You can see FPCD members and regular attenders living out there faith in a wide variety of ways including:
- Bible Studies and Small Groups
- Programs to Work Against Hunger
- Community Garden
- Community Events
- Community Partnerships
See the 2024 Congregational Meeting Packet to read the reports from 2023 and consider how you might get involved!
Leadership at FPCD
All PC(USA) churches have a group of Elders (called the Session) who are elected by the congregation and who meet regularly to discern the call of God for the church. Our church constitution (called the Book of Order), explains what a session is by saying, “As there were in Old Testament times elders for the government of the people, so the New Testament church provided persons with particular gifts to sharing in discernment of God’s Spirit and governance of God’s people… Ruling elders, together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the whole church, including ecumenical relationships. When elected by the congregation, they shall serve faithfully as members of the session.” Learn more about Sessions of the PC(USA) here.
